COURTYARDS IN MARRAKECH THE LIVING PRESENCE OF ISLAMIC HISTORY

Author(s): BLASER WERNER

Middle Eastern Gardens | Design/Landscape

The courtyard in A Moroccan house has the task to segregate the people of the troubled outside world, without interrupting its contact with nature. To this end, the narrow channels fed with running water fountain serves as trees and flowers in the courtyard (if it is a planted "Riyadh"). The kuhle, shady and also flooded with light from above narrowness of the court creates a place of security, the paradise, peace and serenity. He is the physical and spiritual center of the house, which is accessed through a dark and narrow passage. A centuries-old Islamic design is always the glamorous present. Werner Blaser has these little architectural wonders with solid contents carefully photographically.
