Turihaua is the oldest Angus cattle stud in Australasia. Descendants of its progeny - renowned for sturdy constitution and reliability - grace the slopes of many of New Zealand's top Angus cattle producers. James Nelson Williams bought the property in the last decade of the 19th cebtury, and in the first decade of the 21st his great grandson Hamish continues the family tradition. In the intervening period, two men, both named Heathcote Beetham Williams, built and consolidated the legacy to be passed on to future generations. Over the years both brothers put aside money for charitable purposes, and the trusts they set up still foster good work in the Gisborne and East Coast communities.
