Alan Jellyman started his horticultural career as an apprentice with the company in 1957 . He progressed to become Director of Parks for New Plymouth , retiring in 2000. In 2003 he was awarded the Gold Veitch Memorial Medal by the RHS in recognition of his role in public horticulture
